With nourishing rains and shifting colors, the fall season is upon us! At NewMexicoWomen.Org (NMW.O), in the spirit of abundance and harvest, during the fall we have the honor of directing funds to communities across the state. Just as we all rely on a consistent harvest for sustenance, our grantee partners need consistent long-term support in order to maintain and grow their meaningful work. NMW.O takes the long view with our grantmaking strategy by offering multi-year funding. We are excited to announce our sixth year of funding for our Gender Justice cohorts, and a fourth year of funding through our Adolescent Girls of Color program! You can learn more about these phenomenal community partners below.

This season is also a time for gathering, connecting, and storytelling. Last week, after two years of meeting virtually due to the pandemic, we had the privilege and joy of convening in person with our NM Healthy Masculinities Collaborative. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for more information and exciting news about the healthy masculinities program. You can sign up for updates specifically related to that work by downloading the NM Healthy Masculinities Toolkit here.
NMW.O's Gender Justice grants seek to strengthen the gender justice movement in New Mexico through investment in organizations working toward gender and racial justice. These grants prioritize efforts led by or serving self-identified women and girls of color, transgender and gender non-conforming folks, immigrant, low-income, and rural communities. The work includes a variety of efforts that range from advancing Black reproductive and maternal health equity statewide, to wrap-around services for domestic violence survivors in San Miguel and Mora counties, to Indigenous-led midwifery care throughout the Navajo Nation. We are thrilled to announce our sixth year of Gender Justice funding, which also includes two new grantee partners!

In 2019, NMW.O initiated our Adolescent Girls of Color (AGOC) funding cycle with the knowledge that concerted and intentional investment is needed in programs that center the experiences of, and create spaces for self-identified girls of color to connect, build power, and engage in healing. This cycle supports organizations specifically working with and for adolescent girls of color, with an emphasis on programs that encompass gender justice and healing and support the well-being and leadership of self-identified girls and gender-expansive youth of color as change agents in their communities. We currently fund two AGOC cohorts--one in the fall and one in the spring. We are excited to announce our fourth year of funding for our fall AGOC grantee partners! Some examples of their incredible work include clinical apprenticeships to enable immigrant youth from Albuquerque to enter the medical field and youth leadership programs in Doña Ana County focused on art and ancestral Meso-American foodways.
