Dear Friends,

As we enter the full bloom of spring, NewMexicoWomen.Org (NMW.O) is excited about the growth happening both in our organization, and in the movement for gender justice. Three years ago, NMW.O began a community engagement and research project that resulted in a two-part report called, The Heart of Gender Justice in New Mexico: Intersectionality, Economic Security, and Health Equity. This process informed a shift in our strategy to gender justice and healing. Since then, NMW.O has become an independent non-profit organization, doubled our grantmaking to organizations statewide, created new training and education programs, and deepened our relationships with community partners. In an effort to encapsulate the bounty and expansion catalyzed by this three-year project, we worked with a graphic illustrator to produce the beautiful artwork above. We are sharing it here as a celebration of our collective work.

Your contribution is a direct investment in the leadership of self-identifying women and girls of color. When you give to NMW.O, you are supporting the work of our community partners; some of whom are hosting women’s healing circles in Shiprock using a Navajo Wellness Model, or teaching young people of color in Albuquerque to lead anti-racism workshops. Other partners are providing birth services for low-income women in Northern New Mexico, or mentoring formerly incarcerated young women in Las Cruces. We need your support to continue this critical programming.

The complexity of these times calls for a deep imagination in order to envision a just and sustainable world, and to remember that we are, in fact, “each other’s solutions.” Your strong hearts, steadfast commitments, and consistent financial contributions are essential to helping us realize these goals. Thank you for having the courage to invest in gender justice and healing by supporting NMW.O. We absolutely could not do this work without you.

All the best for a beautiful spring season,

Sarah Ghiorse, Executive Director and the
NewMexicoWomen.Org Team!
