Albuquerque, N.M. (Feb. 6, 2013) – Accion New Mexico • Arizona • Colorado (Accion) and the New Mexico Community Foundation are teaming up to offer an upcoming financial management workshop for women in Carlsbad who want to start or expand a small businesses.
The Feb. 28 workshop, “Making Your Money Work for You: Financing Tips for Women Entrepreneurs,” will be held at the Pecos River Village Conference Center in Carlsbad and is open to the public. The session will offer practical tips for women who want to finance a business start-up or expansion and can serve as a great resource for anyone who would like to learn more about personal and small business financial management.
The session will be led by Accion Vice President of Strategic Partnerships Leslie Hoffman and Loan Officer Justin Hyde. Hoffman has worked in small business development for eight years and teaches entrepreneurship at the undergraduate level at the University of New Mexico’s Anderson School of Management. Hyde brings experience in customer service and, in his Accion role, works one-on-one with emerging and existing entrepreneurs to help them access the financing they need to fund their businesses.
The New Mexico Community Foundation is sponsoring the event through a grant provided as a part of the foundation’s NewMexicoWomen.Org initiative. The Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce is serving as the local host for the workshop.
Registration will open at 11:45 a.m. and the hour-long workshop will begin at noon. Snacks and beverages will be provided.
Accion is a nonprofit small business development organization dedicated to helping entrepreneurs fuel income generation, asset creation, and employment opportunities through business ownership. The organization offers business loans between $200 and $300,000 along with training, networking and other support services to aspiring and existing small business owners.
