This Women’s History Month, our #MakingHerstory campaign highlights young self-identified women of color who are making history throughout the country. Mainstream narratives have long excluded the essential and critical role that young women and girls, and particularly girls of color have played in shaping society. Conversations around young people and girls in our state tend to be deficit-based, emphasizing the real challenges that burden our young people. Our campaign this month sought to make visible the brilliance, creativity and contributions of adolescent girls of color in the movement for gender justice and healing by centering their stories, dreams and lived experiences.
Their imaginations, courage and conviction are powerful, and give us hope for a future defined by gender justice and healing. NMW.O continues to be committed to investing in young women of color in our state. Join us, by making a donation here and be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
