Last week, NewMexicoWomen.Org was honored to co-host At The Heart: Gender Justice and the Philanthropic Response to COVID-19, in partnership with the Santa Fe Community Foundation’s HUB and the New Mexico Health Equity Partnership. This conversation, featuring panelists from Indigenous Life Ways, the Women’s Intercultural Center and SouthWest Organizing Project, began as a discussion about pandemic recovery policy, and evolved into one about the “politics of the brokenhearted.” There is tremendous grief, due to the pandemic, which has resulted in isolation, depression, and financial difficulty for families all over New Mexico.

Amidst the grief and the urgency to create pathways to recovery that center the most vulnerable families, is a deep need and desire for us to engage in collective healing. We are committed to ongoing engagement in healing conversations at the intersection of personal, communal and political wellness.
