As we come to the end of a radically disruptive and challenging year, we call on the power of love, the greatest power, and that of the deep imagination to lead us toward a future that is just and sustainable for all self-identifying women and girls and their communities. As always, we derive strength and inspiration from our grantee partners who bring creativity and vision to their work for gender justice in New Mexico.

  • La Semilla Food Center, an Adolescent Girls of Color grantee partner through their You Grow, Chica! program, provides practical opportunities for young girls and femmes of color to learn about healing the land, food systems and agroecological-based food production. Additionally, this program educates participants about how to be healthy, and how to take care of our plant relatives.
  • Changing Woman Initiative, a Gender Justice and Healing grantee partner, travels to rural locations to support Native communities with prenatal visits and home births. They have also been providing much needed well-woman check-ups during this time when many women have lost access to their healthcare, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Black Health New Mexico, a Gender Equity Emergency Fund grantee partner, launched a virtual learning series (VLS) which has become a go to for thought leadership in New Mexico that centers Black women’s voices, lived experience and professional expertise. The VLS is a direct response to COVID-19 that creates a space for Black people and allies to lead and learn about an array of health related topics. All VLS sessions are facilitated by Black women or BIPOC experts.

Join us in supporting these powerful organizations around the state directly, or by contributing to our work. Together we can build a future where love, gender justice and healing exists in all communities!
