“I am called to stand up for women and girls because I come from a long line of fierce manitas. I imagine a New Mexico where women take up more space — where women are professors, farmers, doctors, storytellers, policy makers, artists, leaders and where we get paid equally for our work. I dream of a New Mexico where girls and women don’t just have choices, but where we are the architects of our own opportunities. Women hold the blueprints for structures yet unimagined, and we are the future of New Mexico.” – Dr. Patricia Trujillo

Dr. Patricia Trujillo, Associate Professor of English and Chicana/o Studies and Director of Equity and Diversity at Northern New Mexico College is Taking a Stand for women and girls in New Mexico, because women’s stories will heal our communities!

This fall NMW.O is celebrating our community partners around the state — the passionate and committed people who invest in New Mexican women and girls. This portion of our Take a Stand campaign foregrounds the dreams and visions that we hold for women and girls in New Mexico, with the intention of raising awareness about issues that impact them. We are proud and grateful to work with and feature our powerful partners who are Taking a Stand for New Mexico’s women and girls and supporting this work statewide!
