We hope you had a great Valentine’s Day, the team at NewMexicoWomen.Org sure did! We had a fantastic week, with far-flung grantee visits from Ramah to Lordsburg, an inspiring reception featuring a moving speech by Dr. Rusty Barcelo, and a day spent discussing women and girls issues with state policy makers and passionate fellow citizens at the Capitol. We would like to express our gratitude to Representative Brian Egolf and Senator Peter Wirth for bringing a Certificate on NewMexicoWomen.Org to the House and Senate Floors, respectively. We would also like to thank those organizations that traveled to share their work alongside us at the State Capitol- the Brave Girls Program at SF Indian School, Masada House, Oso Vista Ranch Project, MyPower Inc., and The Spirit of Hidalgo. It was a privilege to be present at the Capitol as it was flooded with advocates for the wellbeing of women and girls in New Mexico, thanks in large part to the efforts of the New Mexico Coalition Against Domestic Violence and One Billion Rising.
Check out some photos from our experiences below. And please email Sarah at sarahg@nmcf.org if you would like to be informed of future exciting events with NewMexicoWomen.Org.
