NMW.O has outlined a four-point response to this moment based on our teams scenario planning and ongoing check-ins with community partners. In the spirit of our feminist forebearers who knew how to hold complexity, we offer our response, knowing that there is no one “right way” to respond to chaos and no one group that has the answer. Instead, these four points are simply that: an offering alongside which we encourage you to educate yourself, find community, and trust your intuition.

    • Stay the course: Our current work of grantmaking, training and education, and research continues. While the moment is specific, NMW.O’s theory of change and strategy remain relevant and applicable.
    • Listen to national and grantee partners: NMW.O is taking direction from those working in the most impacted communities. Close relationships with strategic partners and networks keep us informed about how the various Executive Orders are impacting communities in New Mexico and across the country.
    • Cultivate community and connection: We are convening a series of lunchtime gatherings where our partners and supporters can connect in community, learn about NMW.O’s ongoing activities and analysis, and understand how leaders and organizations in New Mexico are responding to the moment.
    • Healing response fund: We have created a Healing Response Fund to support Immigrant and LGBTQ+ serving organizations so that they can take care of themselves and their staff in this moment of profound pressure. This is a strategic investment in the sustainability of our movements as well as a way of expressing our values and ethic of care and love for our community.
