Our Work
Programmatic Areas
NMW.O works to advance our mission through our key programmatic work areas including:
Grantmaking
NMW.O’s grantmaking portfolios include gender justice, adolescent girls of color, healthy masculinities, healing awards, and advocacy. We prioritize organizations led by or serving women and girls of color, transgender, and gender non-conforming people, and immigrant, low income, and rural communities.
Training and Education
NMW.O is committed to educating and learning with donors around race, gender, and healing. In partnership with McCune Foundation, we convene a community of practice for grantmakers to engage in transformative conversations around race and gender. We also convene the New Mexico Healthy Masculinities Community of Practice and its ongoing work with the NM Healthy Masculinities Toolkit.
Research
NMW.O’s research brings critical attention to the issues impacting women and girls of color, as well as gender non-conforming people, to influence policy and philanthropy and support community organizations with data relevant to their work. Our research includes Gender Justice at the Heart of New Mexico’s Pandemic Recovery and The Heart of Gender Justice in New Mexico: Intersectionality, Economic Security, and Health Equity.
Campaigns
Our communications campaigns seek to shift the narrative on gender, intersectional feminism, and social justice issues in New Mexico. We believe that clear and compelling communication that is data and research-driven, as well as story-based and community-centered, is an essential part of creating social change.
